If you write your own stories, be sure to make them short and crisp, with three clearly bulleted locations. You will find that such clarity with three planned locations really helps the students in a way that they all understand. A sloppy script begets a sloppy story.

Stories, modeled first by the Grimm brothers, in which the sentences of each bulleted paragraph are nearly identical to those of the previous paragraph, are the best. An example is the story of the Three Little Pigs. Stories like this make things so easy for the kids to understand, because of the repetition.

An additional advantage of a clear story script is that it provides a great psychological boost to the teacher. It feels great to go into a class knowing that in three short clear bulleted paragraphs lie the seeds of a great class and you don’t have to think about how to prepare the class, or a single thing beyond that.
